Ingredients:
- 1kg chicken wings
- 1/4 cup hot sauce
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your desired level of heat)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Prepare the Spicy Marinade:
In a bowl, whisk together the hot sauce, olive oil, soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, ground cumin, black pepper, and salt until well combined.
Marinate the Chicken Wings:
- Place the chicken wings in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
- Pour the spicy marinade over the chicken wings, ensuring they are fully coated. Massage the marinade into the wings to evenly distribute the flavours.
- Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight. The longer the marination, the more intense the flavors will be.
Preheat the Grill or Oven:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or preheat your oven to 200°C.
Grill or Bake the Chicken Wings:
- If grilling, lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. Grill the marinated chicken wings for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and have a nice char on the outside.
- If baking, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the chicken wings on the rack in a single layer. Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
Serve and Garnish:
Serve the spicy marinated chicken wings hot, with your choice of dipping sauces, such as blue cheese.
